What’s Next‘s episodes are purposely cliched and predictable. It’s in that predictibality where there essence resides. The goal is to challenge the audience by giving them something expected but at the same time showing an empowering narrative in which women always push forward. In other words, we: ︎︎︎ Ask the audience to think about what comes next? Whether that is regarding the character’s especial ability to notice the world around her or the simple structure of a predictable plot.
︎︎︎ Show how the women in these stories are trying to go about their days, yet they keep being interrupted by the so-called “Inciting Incident”.
With that in mind, all episodes are prefaced with a header, listed in the post’s description. This ante-tilte makes a reference to the woman’s goals in each episode. For instance, in the episode titled “The Cinephagus”, the protagonist’s goal is to watch a film, unfortunately, she is interrupted by loud moviegoers: “All she wanted was... to watch the damn film in peace”.
